Mira Dzhakshylykova graduated from ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ in 2021 with a degree in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development and International and Comparative Politics. Upon graduation, she went on to pursue her Master's degree in a joint Master’s program on Water Cooperation and Diplomacy.
My student years at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ were one of the best ones, because I was very active, and used all the great opportunities provided by the university, such as international conferences, project implementation, internships, extracurricular activities and field trips. ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ has a great environment for development, critical thinking and networking.
Out of all the great memories, with wonderful professors and support from all different offices, mostly I enjoyed field trips around Kyrgyzstan and being part of the Enactus ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ club, where we implemented different projects and have grown professionally.
After graduation, I was accepted to several master's programs with scholarships, and chose the joint Master’s program on Water Cooperation and Diplomacy, which started at UN-mandated University for Peace in Costa-Rica, continued at UNESCO IHE-Delft in the Netherlands, and finished at Oregon State University in the USA. I graduated just recently, and now choosing from different job offers.
My advice for current students would be to use all the great opportunities provided by the university and try to combine studies with extracurricular activities because, besides high GPAs, most of the top universities are interested in other soft skills and experience in motivation letters. Also, I would advise building strong ties with close friends, professors and people from other offices at ÐÓ°É´«Ã½.
Lastly, everything is possible, just try it, and don’t be afraid of failure!
