The Journalism and Mass Communications Department is a multifaceted program devoted to the preparation of their students for the real world, and the development of their student’s experience. Students of the JMC department will perfect their reporting and researching skills, as well as their innovative and media-managing skills, and can choose a concentration in either data journalism or public relations and marketing.

Junior student Salima Almazbekova became the co-author of the article about floods in Kazakhstan published in the investigative journalism outlet ‘Bellingcat’.Recently Kazakhstan faced flooding which is being described as the worst to hit the region in 80 years.

On April 11th, the JMC faculty facilitated a meeting with editors from Cabar Asia, Kaktus Media, Azattyk Media, and Archa Media. The primary objective was to gain insights directly from industry professionals regarding the profession, job prerequisites, and responsibilities, as well as to engage in discussions about current trends and networking opportunities.
Dr. Aizhana Dzhumalieva Leads Central Asia's Health Agenda at ICRC 2024 Conference
Dr. Aizhana Dzhumalieva, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communications, has been appointed representative of Central Asia to the Technical Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO). Her participation in the ICRCC 2024 conference reflects her desire to build professional ties and actively participate in the international dialogue on topical health issues.
JMC students participated in ESJ Journalism Training Program in Lille
Our JMC students Madina Salieva, Shakhzoda Mirakova, and Rasmiia Abasova have officially completed the ESJ Journalism Training Program on the topic of Fake News in Media. The program was funded by the French Embassy in Uzbekistan and the training itself was taking place at the Superior School of Journalism in Lille, which has turned 100 years old!From digital verification techniques to insightful discussions with journalists from Central Asia, our students have gained valuable knowledge and experience that will no doubt shape their future in the media industry.

On February 10th, ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ hosted an Open Doors Day, inviting prospective applicants to explore our university and specifically the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications. During the event, Head of our department, Aizhana Dzhumalieva, along with Professors Rustam Khalimov and Aziza Raimberdieva, warmly elaborated on the opportunities and comprehensive training programs offered by our university and faculty.
